Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 Pre-Order Deals: Best Buy Trade-Ins Worth Up to $325

Amazon is already shaving small amounts off select Series 12 models before launch, but Best Buy's enhanced trade-in credits during pre-order week are where the real savings sit.

Best Buy is offering enhanced trade-in credits of up to $325 on Apple's new Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 during pre-order week. Amazon, meanwhile, has started trimming prices on select Series 12 models before they even ship. Both watches were announced at Apple's 9 September keynote and reach buyers on 18 September.

Launch-week discounts on new Apple hardware are usually small. That makes trade-ins the lever that matters for most buyers. Prices and trade-in values can change at any time, so check before ordering.

The New Prices

  • Apple Watch Series 12, 42mm GPS: $399.
  • Apple Watch Series 12, 46mm GPS: $449.
  • Apple Watch Ultra 4: from $799, in Black and Natural finishes.
  • Release date: Friday 18 September.

Best Buy: Enhanced Trade-In Credits

Best Buy is boosting what it pays for recent Apple Watches traded in against a new model. As reported:

  • Apple Watch Series 11: up to $180 in credit.
  • Apple Watch Ultra 3: up to $325 in credit.

At full value, that works out to:

  • Series 12 (42mm GPS) with a Series 11 trade-in: as low as $219.
  • Ultra 4 with an Ultra 3 trade-in: as low as $474.

Those figures assume maximum credit. The actual amount depends on the model, size and condition of the watch you trade in, and Best Buy's online trade-in estimate tool gives a device-specific figure before you commit.

Upgrading from last year's watch has never been cheaper, as long as you're happy to hand it over during launch week.

Amazon: Small Pre-Order Price Cuts

Amazon is already undercutting Apple's list prices on a handful of Series 12 configurations:

  • Series 12, 42mm GPS + Cellular: $490, down from $499.
  • Series 12, 42mm Titanium with Natural Milanese Loop: $729, down from $749.

Other configurations are listed at full price for now, including the 46mm GPS + Cellular at $549, the 42mm Titanium at $699 and the 46mm Ceramic at $949. The Ultra 4 is also at its full $799 starting price. Discounts are modest, but it is unusual to see any reduction before a new Apple Watch has shipped.

Who Should Take Which Offer

  • Series 11 or Ultra 3 owners: Best Buy's enhanced trade-in is the standout. It is hard to recover that much by selling privately without effort.
  • New to Apple Watch: the small Amazon discounts are worth taking if your configuration is included. Otherwise, there is no penalty for waiting for bigger cuts later in the year.
  • Considering cellular: the $490 Amazon price on the 42mm GPS + Cellular model is one of the few pre-order cuts available.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Trade-in timing: enhanced values are tied to pre-order week and may revert afterwards.
  • Condition matters: scratched screens or damaged casings will reduce the credit.
  • Stock: popular sizes and finishes can slip past the 18 September delivery date as pre-orders fill up.

The Bottom Line

If you own a Series 11 or Ultra 3, Best Buy's pre-order week trade-in credits of up to $325 make this one of the cheapest upgrade windows Apple Watch owners are likely to get. Everyone else can pick up a few dollars off at Amazon, or wait for bigger discounts later in the year. All prices were as reported at the time of writing and may change.
