How ATechMark BD collects, uses and protects information when you read the site, subscribe to our newsletter or get in touch with us.

This policy explains what information ATechMark BD collects when you visit atechmarkbd.com, why we collect it, and what choices you have about it. It covers this website only, and not any third-party site we link to.

Who we are

ATechMark BD is an independent technology publication covering technology news, artificial intelligence and machine learning, software development, gadgets, streaming and digital trends. For anything to do with this policy, write to [email protected].

Information you give us

  • Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe, we store the email address you enter and the date you subscribed.
  • Messages. If you email us or use a contact form, we keep your message and your address so that we can reply.
  • Tips, pitches and corrections. If you send us a story tip, an article pitch or a correction, we keep what you send and the details you include with it.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers record standard request information whenever a page is loaded. That includes your IP address, your browser and operating system, your device type, the page that referred you, the pages you view, and the date and time of each request.

We use this to keep the site running, to understand which articles are read, and to detect abuse such as scraping or attempted intrusion. We do not use it to try to identify you personally.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use three kinds:

  • Essential cookies that make the site work -- remembering your display preferences and keeping your session secure.
  • Analytics cookies that tell us, in aggregate, which pages are read and how readers arrive.
  • Advertising cookies set by our advertising partners, where advertising is shown.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working properly.

How we use information

  • To publish and deliver the site, and to keep it secure and available.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for.
  • To reply to your messages.
  • To understand which topics readers find useful, so we can commission more of them.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

Advertising and affiliate links

Some pages carry advertising, and some articles contain affiliate links. If you buy something after following one, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This never changes what we recommend or what we say about it.

Advertising partners may set their own cookies and may use them to show you advertisements based on your browsing. Their use of that data is governed by their own privacy policies, not by ours. Most advertising networks let you opt out of personalised advertising through their own settings pages.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the site -- hosting, analytics, email delivery, security -- and only as far as they need it to do that work. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

How long we keep it

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages you send us are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Server and analytics logs are kept for a limited retention period and are then deleted or aggregated.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, or to withdraw consent you have given. Readers in the European Union and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR, and readers in California have comparable rights under the CCPA and CPRA.

To exercise any of them, write to [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. Every newsletter also carries an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data on servers outside Bangladesh. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information continues to be protected to the standard described in this policy.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections, to protect the information we hold. No website can promise perfect security, but we take the responsibility seriously and act promptly if something goes wrong.

Links to other sites

Our articles link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read the policy of any site you visit from here.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes or as the law requires. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced on the site.
