Globe Telecom Enhances Network Connectivity and SMS Success Rates
Globe Telecom is focusing on expanding its network infrastructure and satellite technology to boost mobile connectivity.
Strengthening Mobile Connectivity
Globe Telecom is making strides to enhance its network infrastructure and is actively exploring satellite technology aimed at providing direct connection to mobile users. This initiative is part of Globe's commitment to deliver improved connectivity across the Philippines.
Outstanding SMS Performance
Recent evaluations by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) revealed that Globe achieved an impressive SMS success rate of 99.41% in Metro Manila. This result positions Globe as the leading mobile operator in the country, as it stands out as the only provider to surpass the NTC's benchmark of 99% for message delivery.
The NTC's quality-of-service assessment also noted that Globe's call drop rate was a mere 0.74%, significantly lower than the 2% threshold set by the commission. In terms of mobile data performance, the peak download speed reached 381 megabits per second (Mbps), marking a significant achievement.
Network Investments and Infrastructure Upgrades
Globe is dedicated to further reinforcing its network through systematic infrastructure enhancements, with a focus on deploying new network sites more rapidly and expanding coverage in less accessible areas. The company is also investing in satellite direct-to-cell technology to ensure connectivity extends to regions that traditional mobile networks cannot reach.
“These impressive results underline Globe's commitment to provide essential services such as calls, messages, and mobile data that are crucial for everyday life in the Philippines,” commented Globe's General Counsel, Atty. Froilan Castelo.
Monitoring Progress and Customer Satisfaction
In addition to NTC assessments, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has also reported improvements in Globe's network capabilities. Through the Oplan Bantay Signal initiative, Globe's performance rating increased from 77.2 in January to 82.6 by September. Furthermore, their average download speed surged by 41%, rising from 36.5 Mbps to 51.53 Mbps.
As of September, Globe holds a 44.76% share of the mobile market while managing to reduce disconnection complaints by 64% from earlier this year, constituting just 6.1% of total complaints. The company emphasizes that its investment strategy is directed towards areas where the expansion of infrastructure can significantly enhance the quality of mobile connectivity for more Filipinos.
