RedMagic 12 Pro Review: Fastest Android Yet
The RedMagic 12 Pro shines with unrivaled speed and a sleek design, positioning itself as a top flagship Android phone.
Introducing the RedMagic 12 Pro, a powerful new flagship phone that's recently made its debut internationally after a successful launch in China. Known for their gaming-centric devices, RedMagic has taken the challenge to compete head-on with established flagship phones.
Unmatched Performance
Once I set up the phone, I couldn't resist running a Geekbench 7 benchmark to evaluate its prowess compared to other models, particularly my Pixel 9 Pro. While the iPhone 18 Pro Max slightly edges past in single-core tests, the RedMagic 12 Pro significantly outperforms the Pixel 11 Pro in multi-core performance.
The scores were astounding—surpassing anything I had witnessed before. The real-world experience reflected these benchmarks; the responsiveness and fluidity of the phone blew me away. It feels almost like magic, combining speed with an exceptional user experience.
Stylish Design and User Interface
One of my ongoing favorites about RedMagic devices is their Android interface. The design is a clever blend of Android and iOS, giving users a unique experience that has the smoothest animations I've encountered on a mobile device. Notifications glide down seamlessly, and apps launch instantly.
The Pro 12 boasts an almost borderless display that nears the edges of the device, giving a sleek, uninterrupted visual experience. Interestingly, the front-facing camera is cleverly concealed, resulting in a full-screen aesthetic without any intrusive cutouts.
In terms of tactile sensation, the device feels premium. The glass surface, both front and back, feels luxurious. The phone does attract fingerprints, but its sleekness is hard to resist. Moreover, RedMagic's trademark RGB lighting zones on the back are customizable, adding a personalized touch to your notifications, gaming sessions, and more.
AI Features and Gaming Capabilities
The AI technology incorporated into the RedMagic 12 Pro enhances daily tasks with abilities such as live translation and note-taking. For instance, using the Notepad app, I was amazed by how quickly it translated my prompts into text.
When tested for gaming, the RedMagic 12 Pro delivers phenomenal performance, especially while playing titles like “Diablo: Immortal.” The graphics are stunningly vibrant and fluid, corroborating its position as a gaming powerhouse.
A Minor Flaw
Despite being a dedicated gaming phone, I noticed a perplexing inclusion: preinstalled games that lack depth. Titles such as Puzzle Spark and Mahjong Blast feel misaligned with the device’s performance capabilities. While these games are harmless, they feel more like bloatware rather than complementary apps for a premium gaming experience. I would prefer a clean slate, ensuring the phone’s serious nature isn’t diluted by lighter apps.
That said, the RedMagic 12 Pro stands tall among top-tier flagship smartphones, challenging even the latest Google Pixel models. It’s impressive to think what could surpass this device in the future, but right now, it's the ultimate Android experience.
