Revisiting the Technology Dialogue: A Call for Engagement

For over two decades, I have engaged in discussions about technology and its potential to enhance lives. Although my faith in technology's positive influence remains, I’m increasingly troubled by how companies seem less focused on its real value to users.

However, I have noticed a significant shift in the relationship between tech companies and their customers.

It appears that the tech industry prefers to dictate our needs rather than address them. New products are frequently introduced into our daily routines without adequate explanation of their benefits, often prioritizing profits or personal data collection over user satisfaction.

Reframing the Narrative

The revamped Today in Tech with Keith Shaw aims to tackle critical questions regarding technology’s implications for everyday users. It will emphasize meaningful commentary and fresh analyses, while also addressing contemporary topics that resonate with audiences.

We'll step outside the boundaries of corporate strategies to uncover the dynamics of various technological realms like gaming and social media, identifying common challenges for both individuals and enterprises.

Addressing User Concerns

We’re going to spotlight technologies that seem forced upon users without adequate explanation or support, such as recent changes like Sony's transition away from disc-based games. We'll hold companies accountable for their grand claims and scrutinize whether those assertions genuinely benefit users.

Expert interviews will remain a cornerstone of the series, but we'll prioritize guests who are eager to scrutinize industry norms and provide alternative viewpoints often overlooked in mainstream discussions.

My Ongoing Commitment

My core principles endure: a passion for technology, respect for knowledgeable insights, and an enthusiasm for innovation that serves genuine needs. Embracing skepticism about certain tech narratives does not equate to rejecting technology itself.
