Transform Your Pixel 11 with These Key Settings

Discover essential Pixel 11 settings that enhance your phone's display, charging speed, and usability.

As a long-time Pixel fan, I was eager to explore Google’s latest offering, the Pixel 11 Pro XL. While it boasts impressive features, I quickly realized that many settings are not optimized right from the start.

1. Optimize Your Camera with Camera Looks

The camera has always been a standout feature for me, and the Pixel 11 Pro XL introduces a new feature called Camera Looks. This setting lets you adjust processing styles of your photos by altering aspects like contrast, warmth, and sharpness.

If photography is important to you, configuring this setting right from the get-go is essential, as it affects all your images moving forward. To access Camera Looks, open your camera app, tap the settings icon at the bottom right, and customize as desired.

2. Utilize Lock Screen Widgets

Many users may overlook the “At a Glance” lock screen widgets, which are deactivated by default but can provide real-time updates without unlocking your device. These can include weather reports, sports scores, and delivery notifications.

To enable these handy widgets, long-press on your home screen. Then navigate to Settings > Wallpaper & style > More lock screen settings > Widgets on lock screen to customize your selection. Once set up, swiping left on your lock screen reveals all the info.

3. Enhance Display Quality with Smooth Display

The Pixel 11’s display is fantastic, but it may not perform at its highest resolution out of the box. The default setting favors battery life over sharpness, but you can improve text clarity significantly.

To change this, go to Settings > Display > Screen Resolution and switch from “High resolution” (1080 x 2404) to “Max resolution” (1344 x 2992) for a crisper viewing experience, especially if you frequently read articles or e-books.

4. Enable Extreme Charging Mode

If you often find yourself needing a quick charge in a pinch, the Pixel 11’s Extreme Charging Mode is a game changer. This feature accelerates charging by limiting background processes, promising to charge your device to over 50% in just 30 minutes.

There are a few things to note: this mode activates only when your battery dips below 50%, and you need to enable it each time. Access it via Settings > Battery & charging > Extreme Charging.

5. Customize HiLight Colors

Some might think of the HiLight feature as just a gimmick, but it can be a valuable tool. This multicolor LED located on the back of the camera can indicate who is calling, which can be particularly helpful when your phone is on silent.

You can easily assign colors to contacts directly from their information screen. Doing this lets you quickly assess incoming calls without needing to unlock your phone.

6. Turn On Notification History & AI Summaries

If you’ve ever lost an important notification, the Pixel 11 offers two features designed to help you recover those alerts. The Notification History feature keeps a log of all your alerts from the previous 24 hours, making it easy to revisit them.

The AI Notification Summaries function organizes long notification threads, distilling them into bullet points for quick reference. Both options are found in Settings > Notifications > Notification History & Notification Summaries, ensuring you never miss crucial updates again.
