After launching the Jio Phone 2, Jio moved into broadband with Jio GigaFiber. At Reliance Industries’ 42nd AGM in 2019, Mukesh D. Ambani announced Jio GigaFiber plans reportedly starting from Rs 700, with top-tier plans up to Rs 10,000 aimed at power users. The beta trial began in August the previous year and the commercial launch was set for September 5.
Jio Fiber plans and welcome offer
Jio is offering HD/4K set-top boxes and TVs with annual Jio GigaFiber subscriptions as a welcome offer; the offer does not apply to monthly subscriptions. Reported plan price points mentioned for Mumbai include Rs 500, 750, 999, 1,299 and 1,500 (pricing may vary by market and plan).
Jio Home Phone
Jio Home provides a low-cost landline service, marketed as an affordable home-phone alternative.
Set-top box with gaming support
The Jio set-top box will support gaming and Jio has partnered with major gaming companies such as Tencent, Microsoft and Gameloft to enhance the gaming experience on the platform.
Mixed Reality and HoloBoard
Jio is developing mixed reality (MR) — combining virtual and augmented reality — to offer immersive experiences like home theater and virtual shopping. The HoloBoard, a device for MR experiences, was announced but its price had not been revealed.
First-Day-First-Show service
Jio proposed a First-Day-First-Show service to provide movies to customers on release day, expanding its content offerings.
Internet of Things (IoT)
Jio is working on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to support digital initiatives and contribute to India’s Digital India mission.
