iPhone 18 Pro Carrier Deals: T-Mobile and AT&T Offer Up to $1,200 Off With Strings
US carriers are already stacking launch offers ahead of 12 September pre-orders, but the biggest credits depend on premium plans, trade-ins and staying put for up to three years.
The major US carriers are advertising up to $1,200 off Apple's iPhone 18 Pro before pre-orders even open on 12 September, but the full discount only goes to customers on premium plans who trade in a phone or add a line. With Apple raising the starting price of its Pro phones by $100 this year, these carrier offers are the main way many buyers will avoid paying the full $1,199 or more.
As always with launch promotions, the terms matter more than the headline number. Offers can change without notice, so check the carrier's own terms before ordering.
The Starting Point: Apple's Prices
- iPhone 18 Pro: from $1,199.
- iPhone 18 Pro Max: from $1,299.
- Pre-orders: Saturday 12 September, from 5am Pacific.
- In shops: Friday 18 September.
T-Mobile: "On Us" With a Trade-In, Tiered by Plan
T-Mobile is pitching the iPhone 18 Pro as free for new and existing customers who trade in an eligible device or switch a line. The amount you actually get depends heavily on your plan, as reported:
- Experience Beyond 2.0, Experience Beyond and Go5G Next: up to $1,200 off, with trade-ins accepted in any condition.
- Experience More 2.0 and Go5G Plus: up to $900 off, depending on the condition of the trade-in.
- Essentials and Magenta: up to $300 off.
The discount is not a cash price cut. Part of it comes as an instant trade-in credit at checkout. The rest arrives as monthly bill credits spread across a 24- or 36-month instalment plan.
AT&T: $1,200 Over 36 Months
AT&T is offering up to $1,200 off when customers upgrade an existing line or activate a new one on a qualifying 36-month, 0% APR instalment plan. The top credit is reserved for its higher-tier unlimited plans and depends on the value of the phone traded in. Cheaper plans receive smaller credits.
The catch is the same as at T-Mobile. The credits are paid monthly, and the line must stay active for the full 36 months to receive all of them.
Verizon
Verizon is also running trade-in and new-line promotions on the iPhone 18 Pro across its myPlan range, with the biggest savings aimed at customers switching in. Its terms vary by plan and by whether you are upgrading or adding a line, so compare the fine print directly before committing.
A "free" iPhone from a carrier is really a three-year contract with the discount paid back to you a month at a time.
How to Decide
- Check your plan first: if you would need to move to a pricier tier to qualify, add up the extra monthly cost over 24 or 36 months. It can wipe out much of the saving.
- Value your trade-in: the largest offers depend on what you hand over. T-Mobile's top tier accepts any condition, while other tiers and AT&T scale the credit to the phone's condition.
- Think about leaving early: bill credits typically stop if you cancel or pay off the phone early, so the remaining balance becomes yours to pay.
- Watch the upfront costs: connection or upgrade fees, and sales tax calculated on the full retail price, still apply at checkout.
What About the iPhone Duo?
Apple's $1,999 foldable iPhone Duo doesn't open for pre-orders until 16 October, and it ships on 23 October. Expect a separate round of carrier promotions closer to that date. Anyone mainly interested in the foldable has no reason to lock into a Pro deal now.
The Bottom Line
The $1,200 headline offers from T-Mobile and AT&T are real, but they reward customers already on, or willing to move to, premium plans and to stay for two to three years. If you are happy with your carrier and have a recent phone to trade in, pre-order day on 12 September is a good time to lock in the deal. If not, Apple's own unlocked pricing may work out cheaper overall. Offers and prices are subject to change.
