HBO Max is running a Black Friday deal that drops the ad-supported Max plan to $2.99 per month for six months. The offer is available to new subscribers and to returning subscribers — defined as accounts whose subscription has expired or that were previously canceled.
You can sign up on the Max website or through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and on Amazon and Roku devices. The discounted rate applies only to the ad-supported tier, which normally costs $9.99 per month, so this promotion represents roughly a 70% monthly saving. After six months the subscription will return to the regular $9.99 monthly price.
The promotion runs through Cyber Monday, December 2, 2024. There is no matching discount for the ad-free plan, which starts at $16.99 per month.
This isn’t Max’s lowest-ever price — past promotions have dropped the service to $1.99 per month for three months — but the current deal gives a longer six-month discount, making it a strong value if you want extended access.
Max’s library includes recent and high-profile titles such as Dune: Part Two, along with franchises like Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings films, and hit series including The Last of Us, Succession, and House of the Dragon. New shows this year include The Penguin and Dune: Prophecy.
Bear in mind the ad-supported plan restricts streaming to 1080p and does not include offline downloads, and ads will play during viewing.
